The Queensland Killers

comaweng

The Outbank of Queensland is home to the deadliest snakes in the world. The Inland Taipan, which is found nowhere else on the planet, has the most toxic venom of any land snake. One bit can inject enough venom to kill 100 humans. However, it is not particularly aggressive and is rarely encountered. The broader species of Taipan is likelier to attack a human. And, though less venomous, its bite will still kill within an hour if untreated.

The second most feared snake is the Eastern Brown. Its bite can also kil within an hour. When disturbed it rears up in a distinctive ‘S’ shape. These two species are responsible for most of the deaths caused by snake bites in Australia. Around 3,000 people are bitten by snakes in Australia each year, but of these, only around five die.
